About the classes I teach...

I currently teach 3 ballet classes each week. Here are the details of each -
Tuesday nights Ballet 4 Fun at The Loft, Little Dippers on Upper Gardner Street 7.45-8.45pm.
This class is suitable if you have some previous dance experience even if the last time you donned a pair of ballet shoes was when you were 5 years old! The class is held in the lovely Loft space and is strongly influenced by The New York City Ballet style workout. Class commences with a warm-up in the centre followed by beautiful arm exercises and small jumps to kick start the cardio-vascular system. As the class progresses more complicated sequences are introduced as well as the opportunity to learn pieces of repertoire from famous ballets. Class always finishes with a mat work section on the floor to tone and stretch the muscles and set you up for a week of walking tall!

Wednesday is an exciting day starting with my new Ballet for Children class at The Brighton Natural Health Centre on Regent Street 2.30-3.15pm.
Boys and girls aged 18 months - 4 years (with there parents or carers) are introduced to the magical world of ballet in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Children love the space at the BNHC and for 45 mins they have the opportunity to explore through dance and music with lots of singing thrown in for good measure. Simple ballet steps and positions are gradually introduced with an emphasis on having fun. Ballet is great for developing your child's co-ordination, musicality and confidence and you they will sleep well afterwards!

Ballet for Children is followed by Ballet for Adults also at The Brighton Natural health Centre 3.30-4.45pm.
This class is suitable for all levels from beginners through to those with more experience. Class begins with a pre-barre warm-up and then works through all the important exercises at the barre to ensure the body is warm and technique established. Once in the centre the focus is on learning the Cecchetti Ports de Bras (beautiful arm exercises) and each week new steps are workshoped before being added to sequences. As with my Tuesday class there is also a New York City Ballet style floor workout with fab exercises such as 'ballet abs' to tone the body followed by possibly the best stretch your body will get all week!

For all the classes you are more than welcome to drop-in to try them out. For availability at the BNHC it is best to telephone first to book a place 01273 600010.

See you soon
